Invest Update

by @ 09:43 05 pm. Filed under Invest

Had recently cashed out from the market during the March correction,.. could have maximize my profits but a little slow in doing so. Kinda costly as the diff is more than 20% difference. Main points;

Ellipsiz did shot up to almost $1; alas, I exited ~78cts. FUCK!

Sunpower - despite my telling everyone else how great this counter was, I failed to listen to my own advise. The mistake cost more than 30% in opportunity cost - though I did managed to average >100% in returns. Win some, lose some.

Riverstone - a surprise! It returned above 20% and I gladly let it go.

MIIF - unfortunately I did not have the patience to wait after the div,.. could’ve close to 25% gain instead of just the 4% div.

My bad in predicting a major correction that failed to materialized. Clearly misjudged the strength of the bull!! :(

I might be too early afterall, the bull is looking stretched and the irrational enthuaism giving way. Gains are tapering off and the down trend may just started to set in. Unfortunately, I did re-entered two counters; Jasper and China Enersave - the former is a micro-penny at 2.5cts which might be not be an issue at all while the latter is suffering from paper loss. Greed can be blinding…

If the down trend does takes place, it then mirrors almost exactly what happened last year!

All winners!

by @ 07:51 39 pm. Filed under Invest

My portfolio is turning green all over the place…

Sadly, last year’s top performer Ellipsiz is languishing in a stalemate - range bound btw 75-85cts. Good thing I reduce my holding by 50%; still has an uneasy feeling it may suddenly shoot to $1.

This year’s brightess star must be SunPower - shining so briliantly moving up almost 80% from low of 13cts to 21cts. Managed to squeeze in Genting at 88cts; a lucky number no doubt. Maybe do a quickie contra if it hit $1 tomorrow.

Another sleeper that is waking up is HGMetal… this was a huge disappointment abt 3 yrs back. It had remained dormant after moving down to abt 25cts from a high of 60cts. No doubt, it was paper loss most of the time; The main reason I did not sell off was because of the relatively generous div @4+%. There was significant recovery in price, moving up ever so quietly… Unfortunately, I did sell off some 2 days earlier @46.5cts while today’s closing stand at @51cts… At least overall, I managed to retain the capital for those lots that was sold.

Others counters taking a back seat at this point in time are;

  1. MIIF - good div return; >6% based on buying price
  2. Noble - only left bonus issue; intend to buy back when funding permits, hope it does not make a run before that…
  3. Riverstone - new ipo; tough luck… range bound @ipo price… only managed 2 lots for the ipo and had to top up @ premium from the open market… but, have a feeling this one will eventually move when reporting comes.
  4. K1 Venture - failed to meet expectation; some paper loss at the present moment. Full of potential, but market just refuse to recognise it. Good thing there was a redistribution back of 15% capital ;)

Well, it’s been almost as good a new year as it was in 2006. Obviously I hope to surpass my target set for 2006 and 2007 by a big margin. 8)

Good start for 2007 market

by @ 10:15 51 pm. Filed under Invest

Today is the 1st trading day for 2007 (Singapore STI).

Almost all my counters make good gains… especially SunPower (+12%) - ALL GREEN :) :D It is joined by my top perform of 2006, Ellipsiz (+5%).
I have a very strong feeling that my portfolio will break new records this year.

Good start to 2006

by @ 07:57 45 pm. Filed under Invest

The Sg market just went into a mini Bull run for that past week. There is just no concrete explanation for the sudden enthuism except for the better than expected GDP numbers for the last quarter. The strange thing is that just 2 weeks before that, most counters are diving en-mass without and indication of bottoming.

This is one reason why dependency on Charting can be a dangerous to investing. What is not visible are such intangible market influences. The market never react in a preditable manner to the same news on difference intances.

It also goes without reason some of the price movement.. take my recent purchase - STX PO, it just went XD with a potentially handsome return… something in the range of over 10% (yet to the finanlized depending on release of 4th quarter results). The price dipped about 3-4% and then correct up all the wat back to b4 XD!! This is the same counter that got a serious bashing due to some ‘questionable’ (according to some analysts) management action. However, I believe this is one counter to be kept for growth and future div returns!!

All in all, my portfolio sees more than 10% rise in just 1 week for selected counters. A Happy New Year in deed!!!!

Too HOT to hold.

by @ 07:48 37 am. Filed under Invest

I’ve offloaded my Hyflux holdings - after soaring to $2.40, then hitting a high of $2.53 last week, I just felt it gained too much ground base purely from the Middle East news. So I decided to cash out my profits all 68% of it. Slightly regretted as yesterday, it went balistic, touching intraday high of $2.73!!! :( (more…)

Hallelujah!! Hyflux hitting $2.40

:fw:

HALLELUJAH:!:
This calls for a celebration. My best bet this year just shot up another 12.14% :bgrin:
It’s just beyond words how the market forces move. One fine day someone just snapped up the stocks and there’s just no turning back… sigh.

The higher they go, the harder the fall?

by @ 10:37 09 pm. Filed under Invest

This has proven true in too many a time. To a large extent it has a lot to do with human psychology - take the counter Noble Group and its spectacular climb from $0.90 to a high of $1.22 in just over 1 month. Earlier it trade btw the range of $1 plus minus 1-2 cents. (more…)

Focusing on groWTH!

by @ 12:50 20 pm. Filed under Invest

The key to success in the market place is GROWTH… and I believe I’ve a winner in Hyflux. The price had moved up more than 40% since I bought it less than 3 months ago. Current price is $2.14 versus bought price of $1.50!! 8)

It is time to seriously relook at re-balancing my portfolio ratio with 60-70% long term growth stocks versus short term trading stocks?
